WV Graduated Driver's License Program
By taking this online course you'll gain safe driving skills and knowledge about important topics, such as:
- Traffic laws and violations
- Reacting properly in hazardous situations.
- Defensive driving techniques.
- Sharing the road with other motorists.
- Developing good driving attitudes and behaviors.
- Your responsibilities on the road.
Use this course to help you pass the West Virginia Written Exam and earn your learner's permit!
Your learner's permit will allow you to gain experience behind the wheel, as long as you:
- Are accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old.
- Drive between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.
- Do not use your cell phone.
- No cellphone use, including texting.
- You must follow a zero tolerance alcohol policy
How to Get a West Virginia Learner's Permit
If you are at least 15 years old, you can visit your local West Virginia DMV to apply for your learner's permit. You'll need to:
- Have your parent/legal guardian sign your Application for a Driver's License or Photo ID Card (Form DMV-DS-23P).
- A Driver's Eligibility certificate issued by your county school board: This form certifies that you are attending school and making forward academic progress.
- Provide proof of your identity, Social Security number, and legal residence. Please refer to the WV DMV website for a complete list of acceptable documents.
- Pass the DMV written test (test can be completed online before going to the DMV to apply for your permit).
The DMV offers a basic practice tests to help you prepare for the written exam. In addition to these tests, use this course to pass the Written Exam on your First Try!
