Does Wisconsin require driver education for teens?
Yes. Wisconsin applicants under 18 must enroll in or complete an approved driver education course before obtaining an instruction permit. The required training includes at least 30 classroom hours, six in-car instruction hours, and six observation hours.
Can Wisconsin teens take driver education online?
Wisconsin allows approved online classroom programs. Verify that the exact course is approved for the 30-hour classroom requirement; professional in-car training and observation must also be completed.
Is Wisconsin driver education required after turning 18?
No. Wisconsin DMV says the under-18 driver education enrollment requirement does not apply once a person turns 18. Adult applicants still need to meet the relevant testing and documentation requirements.
Can an adult in Wisconsin take an online course to prepare for the knowledge test?
Online driver education can be useful preparation, but a course certificate does not automatically replace Wisconsin DMV licensing examinations. Confirm the course is appropriate for your needs before purchasing.
Does National Driver Training qualify for an insurance discount?
Many insurance companies offer discounts for qualifying driver education. National Driver Training programs may meet an insurer’s criteria; check your course and policy for eligibility.
